Skoda Auto India is getting ready to launch a new variant of its popular compact SUV, the Skoda Kylaq, by the end of 2025. This new Kylaq variant will sit between the current Classic and Signature models. It will be more feature-packed than the base model but more affordable than the top-end version.
Skoda Kylaq was launched in late 2023 and has become a key model for the company in India. It played a big role in helping Skoda move from the 11th to the 7th position among carmakers in the country in 2024. Last year, the company sold over 40,000 cars, and now it wants to sell up to 1 lakh cars every year — with the Kylaq leading the way.
Right now, the Kylaq Classic starts at Rs 8.25 lakh and the Signature goes up to Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). There’s a price gap of about Rs 1.51 lakh between them. The new mid-variant will offer better features than the Classic but will not include everything that comes with the Signature.
Some of the extra features found in the Signature include:
- Cruise control
- Tyre pressure monitor
- 6.9-inch touchscreen
- Rear AC vents
- Cooled glovebox
- Four speakers
- Chrome door handles
- Automatic transmission option
It’s not yet clear which of these features the new variant will include, but it’s likely to offer a mix of comfort and value.
All Kylaq variants use the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which makes 115bhp and 178Nm of torque. Skoda offers both manual and automatic gearbox options. The Kylaq can go from 0 to 100km/h in 10.5 seconds, which is very quick for a car in this segment.
The Classic variant already includes many useful features like:
- LED headlights and tail-lamps
- Six airbags
- ABS, ESC, and traction control
- Rear parking sensors
- Power windows
- Manual AC
- Tilt and telescopic steering
- Roof rails and steel wheels
Skoda has not yet confirmed the exact launch date of the new Kylaq variant, but it is expected to arrive by late 2025, possibly around the festive season.
