Next-gen Tata Nexon likely to be based on ATLAS platform Avinya X will be sold under the luxury AVINYA nameplate
Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the new Safari EV. The 7-seater electric SUV is expected to be launched before the end of this year, most probably in October-November 2026. For 2027, the homegrown automaker is preparing a dual-front SUV strategy which includes the next-generation of its most accessible high-volume model and a flagship luxury EV crossover. Tata Motors to introduce the next-gen Nexon and the premium luxury Avinya X. These two models will allow the homegrown automaker to cover the Rs 8 lakh to Rs 45 lakh price spectrum.
To be positioned as Tata’s halo vehicle, the Avinya X will be the brand’s luxury electric SUV under the new AVINYA nameplate. It will be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA), featuring structural battery integration, an 800V ultra-fast charging setup, and a flat-floor skateboard layout.
The electric SUV is expected to be offered with a dual-motor AWD options. It is likely to offer a single-charge driving range of over 500 km on a single charge. It is expected to feature a minimalist cabin, featuring a free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display and AR-HUD (Artificial Intelligence Head-Up Display). It is expected to feature lounge seats, premium sound system, headrest speakers, LEVEL 2+ autonomous driving capabilities.

The next-gen Nexon compact SUV is scheduled to be launched in the country in 2027. It is expected to be based on Tata’s modular ATLAS (Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture), which also underpins the Curvv. This platform provides better crash safety, improved rear legroom, and cloud-connected E&E architecture.
The spy images reveal that the next Nexon will adopt a slightly boxier, and angular profile for improved space in the second-row. It is likely to get split-LED lighting, a sharper tailgate, and an updated glasshouse. It is expected to be offered with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5L turbo-diesel engines. The SUV is also likely to get Twin-Cylinder iCNG engine choices. The company will also launch the next-gen Nexon.ev.
