The long awaited Tata Nexon EV long range version that was spotted multiple times while being road tested will go on sale by the name Nexon EV Max where the Max depicts the extended range over the regular Nexon EV.
Tata Motors has released the official teaser video of the Tata Nexon EV long range version, thereby confirming the name Nexon EV Max. The price announcement and launch is expected to take place on the 11th of May 2022.
Tata Nexon EV Max will pack more punch with its bigger 40kWh battery pack as compared to the 30.2 kWh in the regular model. As a result, the bigger pack will lend the EV more range of around 400 kilometres. However, the real world range may differ depending on the driving conditions. Further to accommodate the bigger battery pack, Tata Motors will most likely revise the EV’s floor area resulting in lesser overall boot space. The power and torque figures will surely go up, courtesy the new 136 bhp motor on-board.
On the exterior design front, the New Nexon EV Max will remain almost identical to the standard counterpart besides minor badge changes here and there to differentiate it from the former.
The upcoming electric long range SUV is expected to get new features. The recent teaser video hints at a new illuminated rotary gear knob. Electronic parking brake, all four-wheel disc brakes, ESP, auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated front seats; air purifier are all going to be a part of this updated package. The EV will also provide the option of selectable re-gen modes.
To charge this battery pack, Tata Motors will equip the Nexon EV Max with a 2X more powerful 6.6kW AC charger. Although there is no confirmation whether the powerful charger will be optional or a part of standard equipment.
The electric vehicle is expected to command a premium of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh over the standard Nexon EV. The regular Nexon EV will continue to sell alongside EV Max, hence diversifying the Nexon EV’s overall portfolio to capture a larger market share. It should be noted that with this update, Nexon EV Max is expected to touch the territory of the 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift in terms of both pricing and electric range.
