Tata Motors has officially announced that the Sierra lifestyle SUV will finally go on sale before the end of this financial year. The Sierra.ev will first arrive during festive season, before Diwali, while the ICE-powered model could arrive before the end of this year. Mahindra is also preparing multiple new SUVs, including the new Bolero Neo and the updated versions of the XUV700 and Thar.
The big update is that the Tata Sierra ICE will be the first model from the homegrown automaker to feature a three-screen setup. Tata Motors had showcased the closer-to-production Sierra ICE at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. This model was also fitted with a three-screen set-up dominating the dashboard. The connected screen incorporates a large central touchscreen, a digital driver’s display and a co-passenger entertainment screen.
Mahindra is already offering the three-screen set-up in the XEV 9e electric SUV Coupe. The XUV700 facelift will be the first ICE-powered Mahindra SUV to offer triple screen layout. This is most likely to be the same connected screen that is available in the electric XEV 9e. However, it will be tweaked according to the ICE-powertrain.
The ICE-powered Tata Sierra will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine choices. The petrol version will be equipped with a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine, which will also power the Harrier and Safari. Its diesel version could either get the 1.5-litre turbo unit or the 2.0-litre Kryotec unit. Tata has already acquired the development rights to 2.0L turbo diesel engine. The company could use this powertrain in different tune to power the Sierra.
Mahindra will give a mid-life update to its popular XUV700, as testing of the new model has already been started. The spy images reveal that the new Mahindra XUV700 will receive subtle design changes and an upgraded interior. The biggest update will come in the form of a new dashboard layout dominated by a large connected screen. The connected screen accommodates a large touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display and a co-occupant entertainment screen. The XUV700 facelift could also receive ventilated seats in the second-row, and Auto Park feature.
