Toyota Ebella electric SUV bookings open New Hilux launch by March-April 2026 Hyryder facelift coming with ADAS and underbody CNG tank
Toyota has revealed the new Urban Cruiser EBELLA electric SUV, which is a re-badged Maruti e Vitara, in India. Prices of the new electric SUV is yet to be revealed. In order to further boost sales, the Japanese maker plans to launch 3 new Utility Vehicles in the country in 2026. The brand’s popular Hyryder SUV will receive a mid-life update, while the next-gen Hilux lifestyle pick-up truck is arriving in the next couple of months.

The brand’s first electric SUV in India, the Urban Cruiser Ebella will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6, VinFast VF6 and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV. Interested buyers can pre-book the new electric SUV online or at authorised Tata dealerships. It will come with an 8-year battery warranty and a BaaS (Battery as a Service) rental scheme.
The Ebella will be available in three trims - E1, E2 and E3. The base variant will get a 49kWh battery pack, while the mid and higher variants will have a larger 61kWh battery. The 49kWh unit is claimed to offer an ARAI certified rage of up to 440km, while the 61kWh battery version offers a rage of up to 543km on a single charge. The electric SUV will come in 5 monotone and 4 dual-tone colour choices. The monotone options are Enticing Silver, Cafe White, Bluish Black, Sporting Red and Gaming Grey.
The Cafe White, Enticing Silver, Sporting Red and Land Breeze Green are offered with a black roof. Key features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.1-inch driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 7 airbags, LEVEL 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera and others.

Our sources confirmed that the next-gen Toyota Hilux will launch in India by March-April 2026. It will come as a CBU model, and will carry a higher price tag. The new Hilux comes with an all-new design, and a more feature-packed cabin. It is based on Toyota’s IMV body-on-frame platform, and also gets an electric powertrain. However, India-spec model will come with a diesel engine option.
The India-spec model will get the 2.8-litre diesel engine with the 48V mild hybrid setup, which we have already seen on the Fortuner Neo Drive. The battery is placed underneath the rear seats to ensure maximum cabin space. It is claimed to have a payload of one tonne and towing capacity of 3,500kg. The pickup has a water wading depth of 700mm. It features a new Multi-Terrain Select system that tweaks brake and torque control to offer optimised performance on different terrains. The pickup also gets an electric powertrain.
In terms of features, the new Toyota Hilux gets a dual 12.3-inch displays, a 3-spoke steering wheel, automatic AC, AWD and drive modes, wireless charging pad, a blind-spot monitor, powered and ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera and others. It also comes with Toyota Safety Sense ADAS Suite.
The brand’s successful mid-sized SUV, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder will likely to receive changes and features upgrades in the coming months. It is expected to share new-age features with the Maruti Victoris. The current model misses out on some key features, including ADAS. The SUV will come with LEVEL-2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, auto high-beam and others.
The SUV is expected to get powered tailgate with gesture control, a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker infinity sound system with Dolby Atmos, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, etc.
The Hyryder CNG version is likely to get the underbody CNG tank, which will free up space to carry more luggage. It will continue to be offered with the existing 1.5L petrol and 1.5L hybrid engine. The petrol version is paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic; latter also gets an AWD drivetrain.
