Toyota dealers are offering some eye-catching deals on the Hilux pick-up. First offered for sale in 2022, the lifestyle pick-up is one of the more expensive options in the market. For June 2023, the Hilux is getting discounts of up to Rs 6 lakh. We take a closer look.
Toyota had initially priced the entry-level Hilux at Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom) at its launch in 2022. A year later, the automaker reduced the starting price to 30.40 lakh when it was reintroduced in 2023. However, Toyota also increased prices of the top High variant by Rs 1.10 lakh for the manual and Rs 1.35 lakh for the automatic. Currently, the High manual model is priced at Rs 37.15 lakh (ex-showroom) while the automatic variant will set you back by Rs 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Now, Toyota dealers are reportedly offering a minimum discount of around Rs 6 lakh on the Hilux while some select showrooms are offering deals of up to Rs 8 lakh on the higher models.
Powering the Hilux is a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine making 204 bhp with 420 Nm (500 Nm on the auto variant) of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. It comes with 4WD as standard with a low-range gearbox and electronic locking differentials at the front and rear.
Being a lifestyle pick-up, the Hilux has very few rivals in the Indian market. The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is its closest competitor, which is priced between Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 27 lakh (ex-showroom). Incidentally, Isuzu is also offering discounts of upto Rs 2.5 lakh on the V-Cross as well.
