MG Motors is aiming for a big 2023 in the Indian market. With this year’s Delhi Auto Expo right around the corner, the brand is planning to launch a number of new models during the event. The most important among them will be the Hector Facelift, the automaker’s best-selling model in the country. We take a closer look at top 5 things you need to know about the upcoming 2023 MG Hector Facelift.

The MG Hector will receive a facelift in the form of sharper creases and defined angles. Upgrades on the SUV will include an all-new large diamond-mesh grille that stretches all the way down to the front bumper while the air intake now features a chrome surround instead of the silver finish as seen on the current model. The split headlight setup will remain the same but the headlight cluster seems to have been reworked upon. It now will provide black inserts replacing the chrome brackets.

Elsewhere, the Hector’s side and rear profile will stay the same except for a new red strip connecting the LED taillights, a sharper rear bumper and the nameplate repositioned below the number plate. Expect a set of new dual-tone 18-inch wheels with the facelifted model.

Moving inside, the new Hector will get a new dashboard featuring a multi-layer design covered in leatherette. The AC vents are larger too, being split into two sections while a chrome strip runs across the width of the dashboard.
Hector Facelift will come equipped with a bigger 14-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system, the biggest in the segment. It will also control the climate control functions and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other notable features will include a new digital instrument cluster, i-Smart connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof, auto climate control, ventilated front seats, and more. With the updated model, MG will also be introducing ADAS tech on the SUV.
Mechanically, the facelifted SUV will remain the same. It will be offered in petrol and diesel. The former will be the 1.5-litre petrol motor capable of producing a maximum power output of 141 bhp with 250 Nm of peak torque. While the latter would be a 2-litre turbocharged deisel making 167 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options here would include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox.
Considering the amount of new features being offered with the update and general inflation rates, the MG Hector Facelift is expected to be priced a fair bit higher than the current model’s Rs 14.43 lakh to Rs 20.35 lakh (ex-showroom) price range. MG is also likely to offer the SUV in fewer trim levels than before.
Upon launch, the 2023 MG Hector Facelift will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, and the Mahindra XUV700 in its segment.
