Hyundai has unveiled the New Elantra N at the ongoing 2023 Shanghai Motor Show. Compared to the regular model, the new performance-oriented sedan gets a meaner styling, added features, and a more powerful engine. The Elantra N will go on sale later this year in the United States of America, Australia, and South Korea. We take a closer look.

While it is based on the regular Elantra, the Elantra N appears much more sporty courtesy Hyundai’s performance division. The front end offers a new sculpted bonnet with a full-width LED light bar sitting just below it. Sleek LED headlights flank the slim blacked-out N-badged grille. The bumper has been redesigned as well with a wider air dam and a front splitter with red highlights. The side profile stays similar to the standard model except for black ORVMs, new dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels, and the red highlights towards the bottom. Towards the rear the car offers H-shaped LED tail lights connected by an LED light bar, a boot lid spoiler, dual exhausts, and a blacked out rear diffuser.
Powering the All-New Hyundai Elantra N is a 2-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers a maximum power output of 286 bhp with 392 Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Hyundai claims that the performance premium sedan can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.3 seconds while its top speed is limited to 250 kmph.
Hyundai Motor India discontinued the Elantra in the country early last year due to disappointing sales. Currently, the Elantra N is slated for a launch in only a few markets, and it is unlikely that it will reach our shores.
Globally, the car will rival the likes of the Volkswagen Jetta GLI, Toyota Camry TRD, Honda Civic Si, and the Kia K5 GT.
