It is confirmed that the long-awaited 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift will go on sale in the first week of October. Similar to the existing model, the new Thar 3-door facelift is likely to launch in India on October 2, 2025. Bookings for the new model will also open on the same day of its launch.
The new Thar facelift will come with modern features upgrades, a more practical cabin and design upgrades in-line with the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The company has already started dispatching the new lifestyle SUV to dealerships, and customers previews and test drives are expected to commence soon.
The Mahindra Thar facelift will come with a new front grille with double-stacked slots, which we have already seen on the Thar Roxx 5-door. It gets a new C-shaped LED signatures in reworked headlamps. Other design changes will include new alloy wheels and re-worked tail-lights.
The cabin will receive majority of the changes. It comes with a new three-spoke electric power steering instead of the hydraulic power unit in the outgoing model. Moreover, the SUV gets a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
The Thar facelift also gets a wireless phone charger, a reverse parking camera, a front armrest and Thar Roxx-like A-pillars mounted grab handles. The power window switches are now placed on the doors instead of the centre console.
The 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift won’t receive any mechanical changes. It will continue to be offered with two diesel and one petrol engine option. Powertrain options include a 152bhp, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol, a 119bhp, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel and a 132bhp, 2.2-litre turbo diesel. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic (2.2L diesel only). Adding to it, the higher-spec diesel trim gets a 4x4 drivetrain.
Thanks to the GST cut, Mahindra has reduced the prices of the 3-door Thar by up to Rs 1.35 lakh. The SUV is available in the price bracket of Rs 10.31 lakh to Rs 16.60 lakh. It is expected that the Thar facelift will carry a similar price tag; however, the higher variants could receive a minor increase in price.
