3 Upcoming Hyundai Compact SUVs - New Venue, Bayon and Inster EV

The Korean automaker, Hyundai is preparing to launch 3 new sub-4 meter SUVs in India in the next 1-2 years. The company will introduce the new generation Venue compact SUV before the end of this year. Next year, Hyundai will introduce a new sub-4 meter crossover and an all-new electric SUV based on the Inster. Let’s talk about these three upcoming Hyundai compact SUVs in detail - 


New-gen Hyundai Venue


New-gen Venue launch details


Hyundai will launch the next-gen Venue compact SUV in the country by October 2025. The new model has been caught testing numerous times, revealing its design and interiors. It will retain the boxy silhouette and shares design cues with the Alcazar SUV. The new Hyundai Venue will have squared-out split LED headlamps, a larger rectangular-shaped grill, rugged lower bumper with new air intakes and front parking sensors. 


The new-gen Hyundai Venue has a large glass areas, prominent wheel arches, new alloys, new tailagate, new connected LED tail-lights and new alloy wheels. It will also come with significantly revised interiors, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and driver’s display, and a panoramic sunroof. The SUV is likely to get ventilated front and rear seats with reclining and sliding function. The SUV will come with 6 airbags as standard, a 360-degree surround view camera, ESP, hill launch assist and LEVEL 2 ADAS tech.


The new-gen Hyundai Venue compact SUV is likely to retain its existing engine options, including a 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.5L diesel. The SUV could also receive a factory-fitted CNG kit. The diesel version could also get an automatic gearbox option. 


Hyundai Bayon 


Hyundai will also launch a new crossover based on the Bayon crossover, which is on sale in select international markets. It is expected to be launched in the country in 2026. The new Hyundai Bayon will be positioned between the Exter and Venue in Hyundai India line-up. 


The new Bayon crossover is based on the same platform as the i20. It will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which will also receive a mid-life update in 2026. The crossover will witness certain India-specific design changes and interiors. It will come with radar sensors for ADAS, high ground clearance, sloping roofline with black roof rails, and a shark fin antenna. In terms of features, the crossover will have four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, an 8-speaker Bose sound system and others.


Hyundai is preparing a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will sit between the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and the 1.5L turbo petrol units. It is likely to be offered on the Bayon crossover. The compact SUV could also get the 1.2L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines. 


Hyundai Inster EV


Hyundai Inster EV India Launch Details


Hyundai is preparing an all-new sub-4 meter electric SUV based on the Inster EV on sale in the global markets. The brand’s smallest electric SUV will directly rival the Tata Punch EV. It will be locally produced at Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur factory. In terms of proportions, the new electric micro SUV is 3825mm in length, 1610mm in width and 1,575mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,580mm. 


The electric micro SUV comes with a 50/50 split functionality for the second row with a slide and recline system. The small electric SUV will carry a freestanding touchscreen unit, a digital driver’s display, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging dock and ADAS suite. 


The global-spec model will be offered with two battery packs with a capacity of 42kWh and 49kWh. Both come with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The electric SUV is claimed to offer a range of up to 355km on a full charge.
