A lot has happened in January 2025. The Indian automobile witnessed the second edition of the Bharat Mobility Show, with several new product unveilings and launches along with debut of the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer – VinFast. Talking about the sales performance, the industry registered nearly 4.01 lakh sales, marking a massive 25 percent MoM growth and a marginal 2.1 percent YoY growth.
We have already covered the sales details of India’s top PV (passenger vehicle) manufacturers, here we take a closer look at sales performance the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, Renault, Nissan, Citroen and Jeep.

Skoda Auto, which recently completed 25 years of its Indian operations, posted a significant YoY sales growth of 73.9 percent. The Czech automaker managed to sell 4,133 units in January 2025 against 2,377 units in the corresponding month previous year. However, its MoM sales declined by 9.2 percent. The all-new Skoda Kylaq is the latest and the most affordable offering from the carmaker, priced at Rs 8.95 lakh. While its prices were announced in November 2024, deliveries were started from 27th January 2025.
Volkswagen registered total sales of 3,344 units as opposed to 3,267 units in January 2024, accounting a YoY growth of 2.4 percent. However, there was a significant MoM sales decline of 30.1 percent. Recently, the German automaker sued Indian customs authorities over $1.4 billon tax dispute. The plea will be heard by the Bombay High Court on 17th February, 2024.
Renault India’s recorded total sales of 2,780 units, down from 3,826 units in January, 2024. The YoY sales declined by 27.2 percent. Currently, the French automaker has three major offerings in product portfolio including Kwid hatchback, Kiger subcompact and Triber compact MPV. Renault plans to expand its product lineup with three new models including the new-gen Duster, Duster based 7-seater SUV and Kwid EV.
Nissan posted a monthly sales of 2,404 units as opposed to 2,863 units, registering a decline of 16.0 percent. Sales figures of Citroen and Jeep stood at 470 units and 310 units, respectively. Citroen accounted a YoY sales decline of 27.7 percent, while Jeep’s yearly sales declined by 21.7 percent.
