At the launch event of the new Honda Amaze, the Japanese car manufacturer has confirmed to launch 3 new SUVs in the country by the end of FY26-27. Adding to it, these models will come with either hybrid or electric powertrains. Honda is currently selling the Elevate as its only SUV in the country. An all-new electric version of the Honda Elevate will arrive in our market in 2026.
Another big news is that Honda will introduce SUVs with hybrid powertrain, suggesting Elevate hybrid could be a possibility. We strongly believe that Honda Elevate could soon receive the brand's fuel efficient hybrid powertrain. It will get the same 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine that powers the City e:HEV sedan.
The Elevate SUV is designed and developed on Honda City's platform. The hybrid engine setup comprise of an Atkinson Cycle 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors. The first motor functions as an electric generator, while the second one propels the vehicle. Power and torque output stands at 126bhp and 253Nm, respectively. It will feature an eCVT and a battery pack that is fitted in the boot.
Honda had launched the Elevate SUV in the country in 2023. The hybrid powertrain could be offered with the facelifted model, which is likely to arrive in 2025-26. With City sedan, the hybrid engine is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of over 26kmpl. Similar numbers are expected with the Honda Elevate hybrid. It will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara hybrid and Toyota Hyryder hybrid, both received an overwhelming response from buyers.
