Hyundai Bayon India Launch - Top 5 Things You Should Know

Hyundai is all set to bring a new compact SUV to India by mid-2026—the Hyundai Bayon. Positioned between the Exter and Venue in Hyundai's lineup, the Bayon will target the young urban crowd. With a focus on affordability, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Fronx in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.

Key Highlights of the Hyundai Bayon

Target Audience: The Bayon is designed for the young, urban crowd looking for a stylish and practical SUV.

Platform: Built on the same platform as the Hyundai i20, the Bayon combines the convenience of a hatchback with the rugged appeal of an SUV.

Engine Options: Hyundai is expected to offer a new 1.2L Turbo Petrol engine, balancing both power and fuel efficiency. There may also be a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol or a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol option.

Competition: The Bayon will take on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, offering more options in the growing compact SUV category.

Launch Timeline: Expected to hit Indian roads by mid-2026, the Bayon will be Hyundai's latest entry into the compact SUV market.

Localization: Hyundai plans to manufacture the Bayon locally, keeping prices affordable for Indian buyers.

Hyundai Bayon - Exterior Design

Hyundai Bayon showcases a bold and modern design language, with styling elements inspired by the Hyundai Verna.

The front features a split-headlight design, with a sleek LED strip on the bonnet and angular headlights beneath. The wide honeycomb-patterned air dam adds to the SUV’s aggressive stance, complemented by black plastic cladding around the body for a rugged look.

Moving to the side, the Bayon sports 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, with sharp cuts and creases on the bodywork.

At the rear, the SUV boasts boomerang-shaped tail-lamps connected by an LED strip, along with black cladding and silver trim on the bumper.

Interior Design

Inside, the Bayon offers an all-black cabin with familiar Hyundai features. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital driver’s display ensure that technology is front and center.

The Bayon also includes a four-spoke steering wheel, HVAC control panel, and a range of tech-forward features like wireless charging, connected car tech, over-the-air updates, and fast-charging USB Type-C ports.

In terms of audio, the Bayon offers an 8-speaker Bose sound system, ensuring a premium in-car experience. It also comes equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and ambient lighting to add to the comfort.

For practicality, the Bayon offers a spacious 411-litre boot, perfect for both daily commutes and weekend getaways.

Hyundai Bayon: What’s Under the Hood?

The India-spec Hyundai Bayon is likely to feature a new 1.2L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that is hybrid-ready. It may also come with options like the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol or a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, giving buyers multiple choices depending on their preferences for performance and efficiency.
