Tata Sierra is one of the hyped and much-awaited upcoming SUVs in India. The carmaker has confirmed its market launch for the second half of 2025, possibly around the festive season. Interestingly, the all-new Sierra will come with three powertrain options – petrol, diesel and electric. Its positioning will be crucial, as it will face challenges from the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. What makes the Sierra worth the wait? Read on to find out!
The all-new Tata Sierra marks revival of the iconic Sierra nameplate with a modern design language while retaining the original DNA. The SUV features a signature front grille, a full-width LED strip at the front and rear, headlamps with split pattern, pronounced wheel arches with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED taillamps and flush door handles. The OG design elements, such as squarish wheel arch cladding and signature curved-over rear windows, have also been retained.
The Sierra will be among the most tech-loaded SUVs in its category. While its official features and details are yet to be revealed, the SUV is expected to feature a floating triple screen, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charger, a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, an auto dimming IRVM and a Level 2 ADAS suite.
Unlike the older version, the new Tata Sierra will be made available with 4 and 5-seat layout options. The 4-seater version will feature two individual rear seats with sliding functions and deep contour. Furthermore, the extendable leg support or ottoman function will enhance its comfort level. For rear seat occupants, there will be entertainment screens, fold-out tray tables, fold-down arm rests, multiple connectivity options and phone chargers.
The Tata Sierra ICE version is expected to be offered with a 1.5l turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engine delivering power worth 170PS and 350Nm and 280Nm, respectively. Three transmission options could be on offer, including a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor, and a 7-speed DCA automatic. The Sierra EV might come with two battery pack options, delivering an electric range of 500km+ on a full charge. Multiple powertrain options will attract a wider range of customers.
