Kia Syros is the next big product launch from the South Korean automaker that’s slated to make its world debut on 19th December, 2024. This sub-4-metre SUV will make its first public appearance at the Bharat Mobility Show, followed by the price announcement. It will be the second edition of the Auto Show that will be held at Bharat Mandapam from 17th to 22nd January, 2025. Deliveries are expected to begin towards the end of January or early February. Prior to its official unveiling, select Kia dealerships have started accepting pre-bookings for the Syros.
While its official specifications will be revealed in the coming days, the new Kia compact SUV is reported to be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version will use a 1.0L turbo motor pushing out a peak power of 120bhp and 172Nm of torque. It can be had with a manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. There will also be a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine on offer, borrowed from the Sonet.
Buyers who are looking for a compact diesel SUV may find the Kia Syros a suitable option, as it will be offered with the Sonet’s 1.5L diesel engine. This oil burner delivers a maximum power of 115bhp and 250Nm of torque. The SUV’s diesel version is expected to be available with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions. Speculations are rife that Kia will also bring in its electric iteration at a later stage.
In the company’s product lineup, the Kia Syros will bridge the gap between the Sonet and Seltos. Being a more premium model than the Sonet, this subcompact SUV will have more features onboard. The spy images reveal that the Syros will have a new two-spoke steering wheel along with the dual-display setup, as seen in the Sonet and Seltos.
Features such as ventilated front seats, an auto AC unit, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic sunroof will further enhance its comfort quotient. Kia is likely to offer six airbags as a standard safety feature. Its safety kit will also include electronic stability control, Isofix child seat anchorages, a reversing camera, ABS with EBD, and more.
Unlike other Kia cars, the forthcoming Kia Syros has a more upright and boxier stance with a high ground clearance. The official teasers confirmed that the compact SUV has vertically stacked three-pod LED headlamps with long LED DRLs, a flat roof, pronounced wheel arches, flush-fitting door handles, a bold shoulder line, a sharp kink in the window beltline near the C-pillar, an upright tailgate, and L-shaped taillamps.
