Lexus Starts Taking Bookings for The New LX SUV

Lexus has started taking bookings for its latest-generation flagship SUV, the LX in India. Launched globally at the end of last year, the large SUV is available with both a petrol and diesel engine option. However, in India, it will only be offered in the LX500d variant at launch.

Lexus LX: Design and Interior

Lexus LX Interior

The new Lexus LX is based on Toyota’s new TNGA-F architecture developed for ladder-frame vehicles. In fact, the latest Land Cruiser LC300 is underpinned by the same chassis. The LX features an upright and boxy design with bulging fenders and squared-off wheel arches. The front end is dominated by the traditional Lexus’ trademark grille, flanked by LED headlights.
Moving to the inside, the LX gets a twin-screen set-up for the dashboard. There’s a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the top, with a 7-inch screen below. The latter handles the climate control functions and displays multiple off-road data. In India, the LX will most likely come with two seating options- 5 and 7 seats.

Lexus LX: Powertrain

The Lexus LX will come to India in a single variant, the 500d. It uses a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel that produces a maximum power-output of 305 bhp and a peak torque of 700 Nm. This set-up will come mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system as standard. The LX500d will feature multiple terrain modes to help with off-roading.
