Following the tradition, Mahindra is set to make Independence Day in a big way with a ‘Freedom_NU’ event. At the event, the company is set to unveil a total of five or six new SUVs. This is in continuation of Mahindra’s tradition of announcing big products on August 15th. Let's talk about these SUVs in detail -
Mahindra will showcase 4 new concepts, namely Vision T, Vision X, Vision SXT and Vision S at the 'Freedom_NU' event on the occassion of Independence Day 2025. Adding to it, the company will introduce an all-new compact SUV and the BE 6 Dark Edition.

The Vision T concept will preview the brand’s long-awaited Thar electric SUV, which was first showcased in 2023 as the Thar.e electric concept. The teasers reveal top, side and rear shots of the SUV. It has squarish bonnet, pronounced wheel arches, all-terrain tyres, two-port grille with horizontal slats and Thar Roxx-like headlamp setup with squarish lighting element in the centre.

This concept could preview a new SUV joining the Scorpio brand, which currently has Classic and Scorpio N. This is likely to be the Scorpio electric, as teaser reveals a closed-off front fascia. It will have an upright nose, flared wheel arches, bonnet scoops on either side, inverted L-shaped headlights, chunky off-road biased tyres and others.

This concept will be one of the new models based on the brand’s new NU platform, which is versatile enough to accommodate petrol, diesel, hybrid and all-electric powertrains. The Vision SXT has a resemblance with the Vision T Concept, as both features similar flared wheel arches, flat bonnets and rugged all-terrain tyres. It is likely to be an all-new pick-up truck; most probably an evolution of the Global Pie Up Concept that debuted in 2023.

The new Vision X could preview an all-new electric concept under the XUV family. The teasers reveal that the electric concept will have XEV 9e-like full-width LED tail-lamp and a sculpted tailgate. This concept has stylish lines on the bonnet, headlamps mounted on the bumper, wheel-arch cladding and an aero-optimised alloy wheels.

Mahindra will introduce an all-new compact SUV, which is rumoured to be called the Thar Sports. The final name will be revealed at the event, but the spy images reveal that the new SUV will be sold alongside the Thar and XUV 3XO. It is likely to be based on the new NU platform, which is a monocoque chassis compatible with petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains. A possible launch later this year or early next year can’t be ignored. Read full report

At the gala event, Mahindra will also introduce an all-new Dark Edition of the BE 6 electric coupe SUV. The electric SUV is likely to receive all-black treatment inside and out. The BE 6 could be the first Mahindra EV to get dark edition. Similar version of the Mahindra XEV 9e is also expected to join the line-up.
