Mahindra & Mahindra is currently working on the XUV300 facelift which is expected to be unveiled sometime next year. While test mules have been spotted previously, the latest spy shots reveal that the subcompact SUV could come equipped with a panoramic sunroof. The XUV300 will become the first model in the segment to get the feature. We take a closer look.
While the camouflaged test mules don’t reveal much, the XUV300 facelift is expected to get a major design refresh. The front end will feature a new grille, updated headlights and LED DRLs and a redesigned bumper. Being a mid-life facelift, the side profile will remain fairly similar to the current model but may get a new set of alloy wheels. At the rear, the XUV300 will get new LED tail lights and bumper as well as a tweaked bumper.
Mahindra will also completely overhaul the 2023 XUV300’s interior. The subcompact SUV is one of the older models in the segment and the cabin is starting to show its age. Expect the dashboard to be dominated by a large infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. Notable features will include wireless charging, auto climate control, connected car tech, ambient lighting, and more.
Additionally, the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 facelift will become the first subcompact SUV in India to get a panoramic sunroof. This will be an upgrade over the current model’s single pane unit, and given the popularity of the feature in the Indian market, it will become a headline feature for the upcoming SUV.
Mechanically, the 2023 Mahindra XUV300 facelift will remain unchanged from the current model. Powertrain choices will include a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol or a 1.5-litre turbo diesel motor. The former is available in two states of tune, making 110 bhp with 200 Nm or 131 bhp with 230 Nm of peak torque. The oil burner meanwhile pumps out 115 bhp with 300 Nm of max torque. While the 6-speed manual gearbox will remain, Mahindra may replace the current AMT transmission with a torque converter automatic unit.
Mahindra is yet to reveal any details about the XUV300 facelift launch or pricing. Expect the new model to arrive around mid- to late-2024 with a notable price hike. Currently, prices for the XUV300 range from Rs 8.42 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upon launch, the XUV300 will rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Renault Kiger, and the Hyundai Venue.
