Maruti Suzuki has discreetly given its Brezza subcompact SUV a safety equipment update. The update was not announced but has been noticed through the new brochure on Maruti’s official website. We also noticed that some features have been removed from the SUV to maintain the price. Let’s take a closer look.
The 2023 Maruti Brezza now gets seat belt reminders for all passengers as standard. Previously, the reminder was only for the front seats. The reminders work even when all seats are not occupied. However, Maruti has removed a few safety features from Brezza’s CNG variants. The CNG variants now skip ESP (electronic stability control) and hill-hold assist.
Maruti has made no changes to the creature comforts feature list. The subcompact SUV gets a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a HUD, audio setup by Arkamys, an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and more.
The Brezza has received an update to its powertrain as well. In an odd move, the company has decided to remove mild-hybrid tech from the petrol manual models but keep them on the petrol automatic variants. With the removal of the mild-hybrid system, the Brezza manual now has a claimed economy figure of 17.38 kmpl compared to 20.15 kmpl before.
Maruti has not changed the pricing of the Brezza despite the removal of certain features. Prices start from Rs 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base LXI MT model, going up to Rs 13.98 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top ZXI+ AT variant.
The Brezza rivals the likes of the Kia Seltos, Renault Kiger, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, and the Mahindra XUV300.
