Mystery Maruti SUV spotted testing in India Could be YMC 7-seater electric SUV or PHEV Unique design hints at premium, family-friendly EV
Alongside the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift test mule, a second mystery vehicle was recently spotted in India. While barely visible in earlier spy shots, the latest images show the SUV in more detail, revealing the front, side, and rear design along with a peek into the interior.
The new vehicle has SUV proportions and radiates electric vehicle vibes. However, it could also be a traditional petrol SUV or even a plug-in hybrid.

The most likely candidate for this mystery SUV is the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YMC. This 7-seater electric SUV could also have a 5-seater option, suggested by the presence of a rear parcel tray in the test mule.
It is expected to use the same Heartect-e/27PL platform as the Maruti eVitara. The test mule appears to ride on similar 18-inch alloy wheels and 225-section tyres, much like the eVitara. The absence of a visible exhaust further hints that it is an EV.

The front fascia of the test mule appears to take inspiration from the Maruti Victoris. It features a conventional headlight setup paired with LED DRLs similar to the Victoris. The upper grille mirrors Victoris’ styling, though the lower bumper and grille design are unique.
From the side, the front doors resemble other Maruti cars like Victoris, while the rear doors are unique. Conventional door handles and trapezoidal wheel arch cladding are also visible, keeping the SUV’s look familiar yet distinct.
The rear of this mystery SUV is where it stands out. It features a connected LED tail lamp design with a unique signature, horizontal reflectors on the bumper, and a shark-fin antenna. The test mule also sports UV-cut glass, a feature now available across Maruti’s lineup.
While the strongest possibility is that this is the YMC electric SUV, there are other possibilities. The rear left fuel filler suggests this SUV could also be a facelifted Grand Vitara, potentially adopting features like the 10.2-inch infotainment system, TFT instrument cluster, and ADAS from Victoris.
It could even be a plug-in hybrid SUV, similar to the upcoming MG Starlight PHEV, though there’s no confirmation yet.
What it likely isn’t, is an Ertiga facelift, as the Ertiga was recently updated with major rear sheet metal changes.
