Big Challenge for Fortuner – New MG and Jetour SUVs Incoming

Fortuner gets new rivals MG Majestor launches in April Jetour T2 hybrid arrives later

Toyota Fortuner has dominated the premium three-row SUV segment in India for years. Known for its strong road presence, off-road ability and high resale value, it has remained the go-to choice for buyers in this space.

Now, that dominance could be tested as two new SUVs prepare to enter the market in 2026.

MG Majestor Launch Set for April

MG Motor is all set to launch the Majestor on April 20, 2026. Bookings are already open, and deliveries are expected to begin from May.

The SUV will be offered in multiple variants with both 6- and 7-seat layouts, making it suitable for a wide range of buyers.

Powering the Majestor is a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This setup produces around 215 bhp and 478 Nm of torque.

It also gets a four-wheel-drive system along with terrain modes, underlining its focus on off-road capability.

Jetour T2 Brings Hybrid Power to the Segment

Another major contender is the Jetour T2, expected to arrive in India by September 2026.

Unlike most rivals, the T2 will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with dual electric motors and a large battery pack.

The combined output is expected to be around 381 bhp and 610 Nm, offering strong performance figures.

It can also run in pure electric mode for over 100 km, while the total claimed range exceeds 1,000 km, making it a practical option for long-distance travel.

Pricing and Positioning

Both SUVs are expected to be priced close to the Fortuner.

The MG Majestor could be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh, while the Jetour T2 is likely to be priced around Rs 38 lakh to Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).

This puts them directly in the same segment, giving buyers more alternatives.
