MG Starlight 560 India debut confirmed for July 16, 2026. PHEV SUV delivers 125km EV range with premium features and seven seats.
JSW MG Motor India has confirmed the debut of a ‘new energy vehicle’ on July 16, 2026. While the official product details will be announced in the coming days, the model is expected to be a rebadged version of the Wuling Starling 560 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV. The carmaker had filed the design patent of the Starlight 560 in India back in March. Similar to the global-spec version, the India-bound SUV will be offered with both plug-in hybrid and electric powertrain options.
Here are the answers to the most important questions about the upcoming MG Starlight 560.
The new MG plug-in hybrid SUV is set to make its India debut on July 16, 2026. While its exact launch date is yet to be revealed, the model is expected to go on sale by October (during the Diwali season).
Prices of the new MG PHEV are expected to start around Rs 20 lakh for the base variant, and go up to Rs 27 lakh – Rs 28 lakh for the top trim (ex-showroom).
Similar to the global-spec version, MG’s PHEV is expected to feature a 105bhp, 1.5L petrol engine paired with a 20.5kWh battery pack and a FWD (front-wheel drive) system. The combined power output is rated at 195bhp and 230Nm of torque.
The new MG plug-in hybrid SUV will offer an all-electric range of 125km. With a full fuel tank and a fully charged battery, the SUV will deliver a combined driving range of over 1,000km.
Since the upcoming MG PHEV will be a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in China, its entire design, interior, features and components will remain unchanged. As a premium offering, the Starlight 560 will offer several advanced comfort, connectivity and safety features including:
• 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
• 8.8-inch digital driver’s display
• 2-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls
• Leatherette upholstery
• Powered and ventilated front-row seats
• 6 speakers audio system
• 50-watt wireless phone charger
• Panoramic sunroof
• Automatic climate control with rear vents
• 6 airbags
• Tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
• Hill-hold assist
• Electronic parking brake
• ADAS suite
The new plug-in hybrid SUV from MG will be available with a three-row seating configuration. Dimensionally, the SUV will measure 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,755mm in height. It will have a 2,810mm long wheelbase.
In India’s D-segment SUV space, the new MG plug-in hybrid SUV will compete with the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. Its electric iteration is expected to take on the Mahindra XEV 9S.
