New Maruti 7-Seater Electric MPV for India - Key Details Inside

Maruti Suzuki working on new 7-seater electric MPV Upcoming EV may share tech with the e Vitara New family-focused EV could launch by 2026 end

Maruti Suzuki is working on a brand-new 7-seater electric MPV for the Indian market.

The upcoming model, currently known by its internal codename YMC, is expected to arrive by the end of 2026 or early 2027.

After entering the EV space with the e Vitara, Maruti now seems ready to focus on family buyers looking for a spacious and practical electric vehicle.

A Family-Focused Electric Vehicle

The new MPV is expected to offer three rows of seating along with a roomy cabin designed for everyday use.

Maruti already has a strong presence in the MPV segment with models like the Ertiga and XL6. With this new EV, the company wants to bring the same practicality into the electric vehicle space as well.

As more buyers are showing interest in larger EVs, Maruti appears to be preparing a product that suits both city driving and family trips.

Could Share EV Tech With e Vitara

Reports suggest the upcoming MPV could be around 4.5 metres long and may share several components with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

Using common parts and EV technology can help the company keep production costs lower and price the vehicle more competitively.

The new electric MPV is likely to be built at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, which will also produce EVs for export markets.

Toyota Partnership May Continue

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly developing this project together with Toyota.

Both companies are already working closely on several products, including electric vehicles. Toyota’s version of the e Vitara is also expected to launch soon.

This partnership helps both brands share technology and speed up development while improving localisation.

Expected to Be Priced Aggressively

The upcoming Maruti electric MPV is likely to be priced below the Kia Carens Clavis EV, which currently starts at around Rs 18 lakh.

Maruti is known for offering value-for-money products, and the company may follow the same approach here as well.

If priced well, the new MPV could attract buyers looking for an affordable electric family car with plenty of space.

More EVs on the Way

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch more electric vehicles in India over the next few years.

While the company entered the EV market later than some rivals, it now seems focused on building a stronger electric lineup across different segments.

The upcoming 7-seater electric MPV could become one of Maruti’s most important EV launches in India.
