New Tata Nexon EV Rival Coming This Month – Key Details

Kia Syros EV to debut this month with expected range of over 350km. Kia Sorento hybrid SUV will arrive during Diwali season.

Several new car launches have been planned across segments and price brackets in July 2026. In the EV (electric vehicle) space, Kia India is set to introduce its smallest and most affordable electric SUV to challenge the Tata Nexon EV – the Syros EV. Save for EV-specific updates inside and out, the electrified model will share its platform, design language, interior and features with its ICE counterpart.

The Kia Syros EV is scheduled to make its official debut in the last week of July. Spy shots reveal that the EV will retain the original boxy and tallboy stance. However, it will feature a charging flap integrated into the front fender, revised front and rear bumpers, and newly-designed aero-optimized alloy wheels.

Advanced Charging Capabilities

The interior layout is expected to remain largely unchanged. The Kia Syros EV could be offered with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities along with a few EV-specific software updates and new upholstery and trims. Kia might introduce the Syros EV with an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. For reference, the ICE-powered MY2026 Kia Syros does not offer ADAS features.

Sharing Its Powertrain With Hyundai Inster EV?

Official powertrain details are yet to be announced. The Kia Syros EV is likely to borrow the 42kWh and 49kWh lithium-ion battery packs from the Hyundai Inster EV. Both battery packs are paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor and FWD (front-wheel drive) system. The smaller 42kWh battery pack delivers a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 327km, while the larger 49kWh battery pack offers up to 355km-370km.

When launched, the Kia Syros EV is expected to be priced around Rs 15 lakh for the base variant and nearly Rs 20 lakh for the top trim.

Kia Sorento Launching Soon

Following the launch of the Kia Syros EV, the South Korean automaker will introduce the three-row Sorento premium SUV during this year’s Diwali festive season. It will become Kia’s first hybrid offering in India, which is expected to use a hybridized version of the 1.5L petrol engine. In terms of pricing and positioning, the Kia Sorento will go against the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridia, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, MG Majestor and Toyota Fortuner.
