The South Korean automaker, Hyundai is preparing to launch its New-Generation Verna in India. The mid-size sedan is also codenamed BN7i and is reported to enter into mass production in early March 2023. The company will ramp up its production in the country to 70,000 units per annum from around 40,000 units. This should be noted that most of these units will be reserved for exports.
Some significant changes will be implemented to the exterior and interior of the New Verna. Now, it will feature a brand new design language which will highlight a new parametric jewel design grille like the one seen on the New Hyundai Tucson. Overall, the four-wheeler will have full LED headlamps, fastback-like styling with a tapered roof, a revised front bumper, and split tail lamps. The Next-Gen Verna will also be longer and wider compared to its current generation. Now, it ensures more boot space and cabin room.
Further, the sedan’s dashboard layout will offer a double-screen setup which includes an Infotainment system and instrument cluster. The car will also provide integrated wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Talking about its features, the major change to the vehicle will be the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The system would offer safety equipment like Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and more.
The sedan is expected to come powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, replacing its existing 1.0-litre motor (120 bhp). Besides, the buyer will have the option of a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine capable of generating a power output of 115 bhp with 144 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options could include a manual or an AMT gearbox. As of now, according to many media reports there will be no diesel engine on offer.
Kia has not revealed the official launch date for the Clavis EV, but sources suggest that the electric MPV could go on sale by June-July 2025.
