Tata Motors is all set to launch the Altroz facelift in the country on May 21, 2025. Adding to it, the company aims to launch multiple new and facelifts of existing models in the next couple of years. In the second half of 2025, the homegrown passenger car manufacturer will launch the new Sierra lifestyle SUV and the Punch facelift. Let's talk in detail about these two upcoming Tata cars in India this year -
Tata Motors is likely to launch the new Punch facelift by mid-2025, around June-July. The subcompact SUV will receive cosmetic design and interior changes. It is expected to share design highlights from the Punch EV; however, Tata engineers will maintain some differentiation. The company will follow the Nexon and Nexon EV design strategy.
The Tata Punch facelift is likely to come with a significantly revised front fascia, featuring new bumpers, new headlamp setup and new LED daytime running lights. Inside the cabin, the small SUV could get new upholstery, slightly revised dashboard and new colour schemes. In terms of features, the Tata Punch facelift will have a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging pad, a C-type fast charging ports, a single-pane sunroof, etc.
Tata Punch facelift will likely to be offered with the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 86bhp and 115Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. It will also come with a CNG powertrain option. In CNG mode, the powertrain produces 72bhp and 103Nm, is only available with a manual gearbox.
Tata Motors will launch the long-awaited Sierra SUV in the second half of 2025. It will be offered with petrol, diesel and electric powertrain options. If reports are to be believed, the Sierra ICE will launch before the Sierra EV. Tata Motors has already started testing both ICE and electric versions of the Sierra. It will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV in our market.
Tata Motors has also patented the design of the Sierra lifestyle SUV, which looks similar to the original concept. The Sierra ICE will be the first Tata product to offer triple screen layout, and the near-production model was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It will have a uniquely styled dashboard dominated by a full width screen incorporating a central touchscreen unit, a digital instrument console and a passenger screen.
On the flip side, the Sierra EV will have the typical dual screen setup. In terms of features, the SUV will have wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front and rear seats, 360-degree surround view camera, ventilated seats and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
The Tata Sierra will be powered by a new 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 167bhp and 280Nm of torque. The diesel version could either get a 167bhp, 2.0L turbo or a 116bhp, 1.5L turbo unit. Gearbox options could include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The electric version is likely to share the battery packs with the soon-to-be-launched Harrier EV. It is expected to offer a range of over 500km in a single charge.
