Tata Motors is one of the top automakers in India. The company is set to launch three new powerful 4×4 SUVs in 2025 and 2026. They will be both electric and ICE variants. The company is focusing on its SUV portfolio with modern, sophisticated, and rugged products. The new launches will cater for an extensive section of customers. On one extreme are those seeking to find out their eco-friendly electric vehicles and the other those in search of traditional options.
The most awaited launches are expected to be the Harrier EV before the end of the current financial year. Based on the solid and versatile structure, the Tata SUV on the D8 platform will be the first electric version of the popular Harrier. This electric version of the popular Harrier will be powered by a 75 kWh battery, offering up to 500 km in one full charge.
Feature-wise, Harrier EV comes equipped with features of vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) bi-directional charging, wherein owners will be able to charge other electric vehicles or even power devices straight from their car. The new body-colored upper grille and 19-inch alloy wheels are in line for the exteriors of Harrier EV. Inside, it will be a high-tech cabin with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an instrument cluster in digital form. It will feature some comfort-oriented essentials, such as ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof, with which it could be one of the premium choices in the EV segment.
Tata Sierra EV is one of the most awaited models that will arrive soon in this year. This car is based on Tata's new Acti.ev platform, which also underpins the Tata Punch EV and Curvv EV. The Sierra EV will be available in a variety of configurations from 300 km to 600 km. It will have AWD, RWD, and FWD systems. It is said that a 60 kWh battery pack would be fitted to ensure a traveling range of some 500 kilometers from just one charge.
There are the preserved old elements about the original Sierra at design such as blacked C and D pillars, and curved rear glasses along with enormous glass at the back. New features will include trapezoidal head lights, full-length LED taillights, and a premium cabin. The interior will be spacious with a 5-seat or a 4-seat lounge version. The lounge version will include contoured rear seats, extendable leg support, and individual screens for rear-seat passengers. Level 2 ADAS, a free-standing touchscreen, and a digital instrument cluster will also be part of the SUV. The starting price for the base variant of the Sierra EV expected to be at Rs. 25 lakh, whereas the top variant may reach Rs. 30 lakh, ex-showrrom.
Tata Motors would also be bringing the Sierra ICE, or an Internal Combustion Engine model, to India in the latter half of 2025. The SUV is to be propelled by either the 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine or the new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol. For a more old-school feel to the SUV, it would have options of 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed DCT transmission. The design will be a marriage of modern style with the traditional look of the original Sierra-a boxy look with flush-fitting door handles, dual-tone alloy wheels, and SIERRA lettering on the front doors.
Triple-screen setup- touch screen infotainment system, digital driver's display, and co-passenger screen - will distinguish the interior of the Sierra ICE. It will also be featured with a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, and leatherette seats with ventilation. Other features that are incorporated into this vehicle include electrically adjustable seats and ADAS. This ICE iteration of the Sierra will most likely find its supporters in people who prefer old petroleum-based engines, but want something feature-packed, high-performance SUV.
