The Indian electric vehicle market has seen significant growth in the recent past. And, in the future, we will witness the arrival of many more products. The homegrown giants, Tata and Mahindra are gearing up to launch various electric cars in the country. Let's have a look at the list of what can be expected from these brands for 2025-2026.
It has been confirmed by Tata that the Sierra nameplate is gonna make a comeback with its all-new avatar in 2025. The car will feature updated architecture, an upmarket and tech-loaded interior, and an electric powertrain.
Tata has showcased the production-ready Harrier.ev at Auto Expo 2025.It is expected to be launched in the country in the first half of 2025. The Harrier Electric is based on the Acti.ev platform which also underpins the Tata Punch EV and Curvv EV.
A three-row version of the Harrier EV, Safari EV has been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It is expected that the new Tata Safari electric will be launched in the country by the end of this year or early next year. It is also based on Tata's new Acti.EV platform.
Though Tata has yet to confirm any official dates for the launch of the Avinya product lineup, it is likely to come to market by 2026. The Avinya Sportback will be the first model to be launched under the Avinya electric brand.
Along with the Sportback version, Avinya SUV will be joining the product lineup soon as well. Both of these new Avinya electric cars are expected to be based on JLR's EMA platform. Tata Motors had showcased the Avinya X Concept at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, and it previews the brand's design for the future luxury e-SUV.
It is expected that Tata will be launching the hatchback EV that we all have been eagerly waiting for some time now. It is likely that the EV give a range of up to 400 km on a single full charge and will be making the launch around October of 2025.
Mahindra is also been likely to launch the electric version of the XUV 700 SUV in 2025. The SUV will be joining the XEV sub-brand after the 9e with an expected battery option the same as the XEV 9e.
It has been confirmed by Mahindra that the price for Pack 2 of the BE 6 and XEV 9e will be announced by the end of March 2025. There are also yet-to-be-announced features in the mid-spec Pack Two trims.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO, which was launched early in 2024, is also expected to welcome the EV version in the line-up. The XUV 3XO EV has been spied testing multiple times and is likely to come with more premium features than the regular ICE model.
Mahindra showcased the Thar.e, an electric 5-door concept in 2023. It is expected that the Thar Roxx based electric SUV will be launched in the country over the period of next couple of years; however, the exact launch timeline is yet to be revealed. Similar to the BE 6 and XEV 9e, the Mahindra Thar EV will be based on the brand's new INGLO BORN-EV platform.
