Volkswagen Tayron R-Line to launch in India by March 2026 Premium 7-seater SUV with AWD, ADAS and 2.0 TSI engine Expected price between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom)
Volkswagen India has officially unveiled the Volkswagen Tayron R Line for the Indian market. Positioned as the brand’s flagship SUV, the Tayron will sit above the Tiguan and replace the discontinued Tiguan Allspace. It will be introduced as a Volkswagen Premium 7 Seater SUV, focusing on performance, comfort and advanced technology.
Volkswagen Tayron R Line India launch is confirmed for March 2026. Volkswagen plans to introduce the SUV in the first quarter of 2026, with official pricing and sales expected around the same time. Once launched, it will become the most premium SUV in Volkswagen’s India lineup.

Unlike the imported Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron R-Line will be locally assembled in India. Volkswagen will bring it as a CKD model and assemble it at its Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra. The expected VW Tayron R Line price is likely to be between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Powering the Volkswagen Tayron R Line in India is a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 201bhp and 320Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. An all-wheel-drive system will be offered as standard.
The Tayron R-Line gets several sporty design upgrades. These include R-Line-specific front and rear bumpers, unique badging on the grille and doors, and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. It also features HD Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic cornering, illuminated Volkswagen logos, and LED tail lamps with variable lighting signatures.

Inside, the Tayron R-Line offers a modern and feature-rich cabin. Highlights include a large 15-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats with memory and massage functions, three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, 30-colour ambient lighting, and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Safety will be a key highlight of the Tayron R-Line. The SUV comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, nine airbags including a central airbag, a 360-degree camera, and Park Assist Plus.
With its premium positioning, the Volkswagen Tayron R Line will take on rivals such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian. More details on final specifications and pricing are expected closer to the launch.
