Volkswagen is all set to refresh its popular mid-size sedan, the Virtus, with a new facelift. It is expected to arrive by the end of 2025 or early 2026. This update comes as part of the brand's strategy to boost sales in India, where it currently offers only two models—Virtus and Taigun. Alongside the Virtus, the German automaker is also preparing to update the Taigun by March 2026.

The facelifted Virtus will retain its sharp and modern design, but subtle changes will help distinguish it from the current model.
Expect a revised front grille, tweaked LED headlights, new bumpers, and updated LED tail lamps for Virtus facelift. Volkswagen is also likely to introduce new alloy wheel designs to give this sedan a fresher look while keeping the overall side profile largely unchanged.
Inside the cabin, the new Virtus facelift is expected to receive upgraded upholstery and a revised color scheme for a more premium feel.
One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming update will be the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof, a feature increasingly demanded by Indian car buyers.
The sedan will also feature ADAS Level 2, making it one of the more tech-forward offerings in the segment.
Volkswagen is expected to retain the existing powertrain options for the Virtus facelift. It will continue to offer:
1.0-litre turbo-petrol with 115 bhp and 178 Nm
1.5-litre turbo-petrol with 150 bhp and 250 Nm
These engines are already known for their performance and efficiency and are expected to remain unchanged in the updated model.
With growing competition and fewer models on sale, Volkswagen plans to refresh its lineup in India. The Virtus and Taigun facelifts are part of this new strategy to stay strong in the mid-size sedan and SUV markets.
