Maruti Suzuki is all set to expand its SUV lineup in India in 2025. After launching the popular Swift hatchback and Dzire sedan in 2024, the Japanese automaker plans to bring at least two exciting new SUVs next year. These will include a 7-seater SUV and Maruti’s first electric vehicle (EV), both with advanced features and multiple powertrain options.
Maruti will launch its first ever electric SUV, e Vitara, by March 2025. This model is on the basis of the eVX concept and the same design has been taken in here, but some details have been softened down in the production variant.
The e-Vitara would be offered with two different types of battery packs. There would be the entry-level variant, with a 49kWh battery and an 144hp of power. The second variant will have a higher-spec model, a 61kWh battery pack, and a 174hp motor. This model will also be offered in an All-Wheel Drive variant, with a 65 hp rear motor paired to the biggest battery, for a combined torque of 300Nm and peak power of 184hp.
The e Vitara will have more than 500 kilometers on a single charge in the EV market. Then the Level 2 ADAS set will be there to bring safety on the roads. The SUV is expected to priced between Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki is also developing a new 7-seater SUV, codenamed Y17, which will be launched by the end of 2025. It essentially comprises three lines of seats and is slightly longer than that of the 5-seaters Grand Vitara. It derives several features from the model like, powertrain and design.
The 7-seater SUV will boast similar engine options as seen with the Grand Vitara: 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid. Expect premium design coming with modern features and high-interior space. Price estimates are between Rs. 12 lakh to Rs. 22 lakh for this brand.
The 2025 line-up promises to be big for Maruti Suzuki in the SUV space. Firstly, the launch of e Vitara will bring to life the electric future of Maruti. Then, there's a new 7-seater SUV, which will appeal to the bigger families, their space and feature-hungry needs. Both are going to hit big time and will deliver a lot of value for money. Powertrains are going to be mixed as per the customer's demands.
