Hyundai Creta has turned 10 in India, and it’s a big moment for Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL). Launched in July 2015, the Creta entered the market as Hyundai’s first mid-size SUV. Today, it has become one of the most loved SUVs in the country, with over 1.2 million units sold.
Since its launch, the Hyundai Creta has completely changed the mid-size SUV segment. Many people even call it the “Creta segment” because of how popular it has become.
- In 2024, Hyundai sold 1,86,919 units of Creta, double the number sold in 2016.
- It holds over 31% share in the mid-size SUV market.
- In the first half of 2025, it was the best-selling SUV in India and the top-selling car in the country in 3 out of 6 months.
- Around 70% of buyers chose the sunroof variants (Jan–June 2025).
- The number of first-time buyers for Creta has grown from 12% in 2020 to 29% in 2024.
Hyundai Creta is available with petrol, diesel, turbo, and electric engines. You can choose between manual or automatic gearboxes.
It is also a global product, made in India and exported to over 13 countries, with more than 2.87 lakh units sent overseas.
Creta is now in its second generation and continues to offer new features, designs, and technology. Hyundai has also introduced special editions like the Knight Edition and Adventure Edition that match different lifestyles. These versions have also become popular with buyers.
Over the years, Creta’s tagline has also changed:
2015: “A Perfect SUV”
2020: “The Ultimate SUV”
2024: “The Undisputed Ultimate SUV”
To mark this 10-year milestone, Hyundai has announced several celebration events:
- Creta X Memories Contest: A fun online contest where Creta owners and fans can share their best memories with the SUV. Winners can get prizes like an iPhone or a meet-and-greet with Deepika Padukone.
- Special Video: A powerful film showing the 10-year journey of the Creta, shared through digital and print ads.
- Creta Legacy Drive: A convoy of 100 Cretas will drive out from Hyundai’s HQ in Gurgaon on 26th July 2025 to celebrate this special occasion.
