The global debut of the all-new Kia Syros sub-4 metre SUV is just a few days away. Ahead of its official unveiling, the carmaker has dropped yet another teaser revealing some key features. This time around, we got a look at its rear section featuring L-shaped LED taillamps with the signature ‘Kia’ logo placed in the centre. It also has an integrated roof spoiler, a sculpted tailgate, and sporty bumper accents.
Previous teasers confirm that the new Kia compact SUV carries LED headlamps with a split setup and integrated DRLs, Kia’s familiar Tiger Nose grille, a clamshell bonnet, and an upright nose. Some of its other design highlights include roof rails, four-spoke alloy wheels, flush-style door handles, a high-mounted stop lamp, and rear bumper-mounted brake lights.
Official details of the Kia Syros will be revealed on its debut day. However, the teasers revealed that the compact SUV will have the segment’s first panoramic sunroof and an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite offering features such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and more. Inside, the Syros will also have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity, wireless phone charging, leatherette upholstery, a fully digital instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, and many more goodies.
A bunch of features will be exclusive to the higher trims, including a 360-degree camera, six airbags, hill-hold assist, and parking sensors. You will also get TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system), ABS with EBD, and rear disc brakes.
Mechanically, the Kia Syros model lineup will have multiple powertrains on offer. It is reported to come with two petrol engines – a 1.0L turbo and a 1.0L naturally aspirated engine – along with a 1.5L diesel engine. The new Kia compact SUV will have an FWD (front-wheel drive) system as standard. The South Korean automaker has also planned the Syros EV, which is likely to arrive in the near future.
The official debut of the Syros will take place on 19th December 2024. Select Kia dealers have already started accepting bookings for the subcompact SUV. In Kia India’s product lineup, this SUV will bridge the gap between the Sonet and Seltos. In terms of pricing, the new Kia Syros will lock horns with the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.
Interested buyers can now book the Volkswagen Golf GTI online or at authorised VW dealerships - launch in the end of May with deliveries from June 2025.
