Maruti Suzuki is excited to launch its first electric SUV in India. Previously known as eVX (concept), the new e Vitara is likely to be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. The brand has officially teased the model today. Before this, the electric SUV made its global debut in Milan, Italy, which revealed its modern design, features, and battery packs. The India-spec e Vitara will get the same specs as the Euro-spec version, however, some changes are expected. Upon launch, it will rival Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
New Maruti e Vitara will be manufactured at company's production facility in Gujarat. The 5-seater midsize electric SUV is based on the Heartect-e-born electric skateboard platform. Dimensionally, it is 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
The 2025 e Vitara reflects the brand's new design philosophy with smooth-flowing lines and creases. It highlights Y-shaped LED DRLs at the front and rear. The lower trims will get 18-inch alloy wheels while the higher models will run on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, it offers a dual-tone dashboard, wireless charging, a two-spoke steering wheel, digital instrumentation, and ventilated front seats.
On the safety front, the e Vitara will offer six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and ESP. It will also have a 360-degree camera and ADAS suite, comprising Lane Keeping Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control features.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will have two battery pack options - 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The smaller battery with a 2WD setup can generate 139 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the larger battery unit delivers 169 bhp and 189 Nm with 2WD and 179 bhp and 300 Nm with 4WD (ALLGRIP-e) setup. The maximum range could go around 550 km on a full charge. The electric SUV will also support fast charging.
