Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch its new flagship MPV, the Invicto. We had previously reported that the new premium MPV will only be available with a strong-hybrid powertrain only. However, sources suggest that the sub-Rs 30 lakh model will be missing out on the ADAS suite of the Toyota Innova Hycross keeping in mind the price conscious Indian new car segment.
The Maruti Suzuki Invicto is the badge-engineered sibling of the Innova Hycross. Usually, models that are shared by both Maruti and Toyota tend to get the same equipment and feature list. But things are set to change with the Invicto.
As per the latest report, Maruti Suzuki is planning to remove certain ADAS features or the complete suite on the Invicto due to the high cost but relatively low utility and value. The Invicto will be the most expensive vehicle from the brand ever, yet it is still trying to keep costs in check.
Additionally, the Invicto could also miss out on some high-end features of the Innova Hycross. These could include the memory function for the driver’s seat, powered tailgate and the JBL audio setup. With quite few feature omissions, it looks like Maruti is planning to price the Invicto a bit lower than the Innova Hycross’ equivalent hybrid variants.
Units of the Invicto have started arriving at Maruti dealerships, and latest images reveal the different design of the premium MPV. The front-end features twin chrome slats in the grille which has a different mesh pattern. The headlights have been tweaked as well and gets Nexa’s three-block DRLs integrated into them while the front bumper is completely different. It gets a new faux skid plate and unlike the Innova Hycross, gets no fog lamps.
Moving to the side, the profile of the Invicto is fairly similar to the Hycross. However, Maruti has removed the black body cladding on the wheel arches and has given the MPV new alloy wheels. At the rear, the Invicto gets Maruti’s signature three-block LED taillights.
On the inside, the premium MPV will feature an all-black theme along with copper accents to enhance the overall premium appeal of the model.
Maruti is going to launch the Invicto next month on July 5. The brand has already started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The automaker will position the Invicto as a premium offering. Expect the MPV to be priced around Rs 25 - Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
