The Maruti Jimny 5-door is one of the most-awaited launches of 2023. According to a latest media report, the first unit of the lifestyle SUV has started to reach Maruti’s NEXA dealerships across the country. The Jimny will be displayed in a phased manner with every showroom having the SUV on display for a couple of days at first.
While Maruti Suzuki is yet to announce a launch date for the Jimny 5-door, production of the model is slated to start from April 2023. The automaker will manufacture the SUV at its Gurugram plant for both domestic and international markets.
Deliveries of the Jimny 5-door are expected to start by late May this year, with expected price to be around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). Reports suggest that the SUV’s top Alpha variant will go into production first due to a high demand, with over 18,000 bookings already received for the vehicle.
The four-wheeler will come loaded with features like a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, auto climate control, cruise control, an audio setup from Arkamys, and more. In terms of safety, the Jimny will provide 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, and Hill-Hold Assist as standard fitment.
Maruti will offer a single powertrain option for the Jimny 5-door. The motor will be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit that will be capable of delivering a maximum power output of 105 bhp with 138 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options would include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The SUV will also get Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a low-range gearbox and manual transfer case.
