Toyota Hilux has finally been introduced into the Indian market. Its price starts from Rs 33.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) in India
The wait is finally over; Toyota Kirloskar Motors has announced the pricing for its sought-after pick-up truck, the Hilux in India. The New Hilux is offered with a four-wheel drive system as standard fitment across its entire range. Pricing for the new pick-up truck starts at Rs 33.99 lakhs and extends up to Rs 36.80 lakhs (ex-showroom). A popular product internationally, the Hilux looks to attract SUV buyers who want best of comfort, performance, usability and pure off-road capability.

Toyota Hilux Variants and Pricing:
2022 Toyota Hilux will be offered in three variants. The baseline is called the 4X4 MT Standard, priced at Rs 33.99 lakhs, while the top-of-the-line trim called the 4X4 High is offered with both manual and automatic transmissions. The 4X4 High MT variant is priced at Rs 35.80 lakhs, while the 4X4 High AT costs Rs 36.80 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Toyota Hilux Powertrain Option:
Toyota is offering the Hilux pick-up with only a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed sequential automatic transmission with paddle shifter as seen on the Fortuner. The 2.8-litre unit with the manual gearbox delivers a maximum power output of 204 bhp with 420 Nm of peak torque. As for the automatic variant, the number of bhp remains the same but its torque figure increases to 500 Nm. Unlike the Fortuner, the Hilux’s engine has been calibrated for load-lugging and off-road use.

Build and specification:
The Toyota Hilux is built on the Innovative Multi-purpose vehicle (IMPV) platform like the Fortuner and features body-on-frame construction and a robust 4X4 system, making it the first choice for many lifestyle utility vehicle buyers. The IMPV platform also enables a water wading capacity of 700mm. Thus, the pick-up truck is available only in a double-cab configuration. In dimensions, it measures 5325 mm in length, 1855 mm in width and has a height of 1815 mm. It also features a flatbed which measures 1,555mm x 1,540mm in size and is rated for a load of up to 470 kgs.
Toyota Hilux Interior and Safety:
The Japanese automaker has handsomely equipped the Hilux with creature comforts like LED headlamps & tail lights, 18-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels, 8-inch Smart Playcast touchscreen, dual-zone AC, eight-way powered driver seat, in addition to all the essential features expected on a 2022 vehicle. Enabling safe off-roading, the SUV comes equipped with ABS with EBD, 7 airbags, automatic limited-slip differential, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control.

Toyota Hilux Colour options:
2022 New Toyota Hilux is available in four exciting colours namely Emotional Red, White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Super White and Grey Metallic.
The Hilux has been a popular vehicle for Toyota and has achieved over 20 million in sales over its eight generations. Despite announcing the price, Toyota Kirloskar Motors has continued to suspend bookings for the pick-up after receiving an overwhelming response for their product. The company cited production constraints and suspended bookings a fortnight after initially opening it.
