Hyundai Motor India has ambitious plans for the next 3–4 years, focusing on electrification, hybrid technology, and expanding its production footprint. The South Korean automaker has confirmed five new EV models for India, which will arrive by 2030, starting with a locally produced electric SUV – the Creta EV. The company will also make investments to develop EV infrastructure, including the establishment of charging stations. Aiming to leverage its global expertise in hybrid technology, Hyundai plans to introduce hybrid versions of its popular models in India while boosting its production capacity. Let’s take a look at the major upcoming Hyundai cars and SUVs and their expected launch timelines.
The Hyundai Creta EV’s prices will be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. Deliveries are expected to commence on the day of the price announcement. The EV has been spotted in multiple spy images and videos, revealing several interesting details. Compared to its ICE version, the electric Creta will have a slightly different design, featuring a closed-off grille and revised bumpers. The interior will be similar to the ICE-powered Creta. Fresh spy images confirm that the EV will feature a new circular three-spoke steering wheel and seat upholstery embossed with ‘CRETA Electric.’ Powertrain details are yet to be disclosed, but the Creta EV is expected to come with a 45kWh battery pack and an electric motor. Its range is anticipated to exceed 350 km.
The next-generation Hyundai Venue is among the most anticipated upcoming Hyundai cars in India. While its official launch timeline has not yet been confirmed, the model is expected to arrive by the end of 2025. Comprehensive updates are expected inside and out. Spy images of test mules suggest that the 2025 Hyundai Venue will borrow some design elements from its elder siblings – the Creta and Alcazar. The Level 1 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) might be upgraded to Level 2, reserved for higher trims. The interior could feature a redesigned dashboard, new seat upholstery, a revamped steering wheel, and updated switchgear. Rumors suggest that the new Venue may also include a panoramic sunroof. The existing 1.2L NA petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol, and 1.5L diesel engines are expected to be carried forward in the new-gen model.
The Hyundai Tucson SUV is also reported to be receiving a midlife update in 2025. However, there is no official word regarding the product or its launch timeline. The updated version is likely to feature a newly designed front grille, new LED headlamps, revised front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheels. Inside, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson facelift may come with a new three-spoke steering wheel and an 8-speaker Bose audio system. Similar to the Creta, it might also get a dual-screen setup. No mechanical changes are expected, and the updated model lineup is likely to retain the existing 2.0L petrol and 2.0L diesel engines, delivering 154bhp with 192Nm and 184bhp with 416Nm, respectively.
The Hyundai Inster-based electric SUV is also part of Hyundai’s electrification strategy for India and is expected to hit the roads in the second half of 2026. This new EV will compete with the Tata Punch EV, Tata Tiago EV, Citroen eC3, and MG Comet EV. Globally, the Inster EV is available in Standard and Long Range versions, equipped with a 42kWh battery generating 97bhp and a 49kWh battery delivering 115bhp, respectively. The Standard version offers a claimed range of 300 km, while the Long Range delivers 355 km on a full charge. Both variants produce 147Nm of torque. The Inster is a well-equipped Hyundai SUV featuring a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup with a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, a heated steering wheel and driver’s seat, a wireless phone charger, voice recognition, the Bluelink app, a single-pane sunroof, a 360-degree camera with a blind spot monitor, an ADAS suite, and more.
The Hyundai Bayon is a compact crossover based on the i20 hatchback, sold in global markets. Media reports suggest that the South Korean automaker is working on a crossover for India that will share its platform with the new-gen i20. This model is expected to launch in the fiscal year 2027. Once introduced, the Bayon will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Nexon, and Toyota Taisor. In terms of pricing, it is estimated to cost between ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh. The global-spec Hyundai Bayon is powered by a 1.0L turbo petrol engine in two states of tune. However, the Indian version is likely to share its engine setup with the i20 hatchback and the Venue subcompact SUV.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover is already on sale in India, and the automaker might expand its Indian product portfolio with the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan, which debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. The model is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP skateboard architecture and offers two battery packs – 53kWh and 77kWh. A single motor RWD (rear-wheel drive) setup is standard, while a dual motor AWD option is available for higher trims. The AWD variant delivers a claimed power output of 228bhp and 350Nm of torque. The electric sedan offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 429 km for the RWD 53kWh version, up to 614 km for the 77kWh version, and up to 583 km for the AWD variant. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the production version of the Prophecy concept, retaining most of its design elements from the concept model.
