Kia India has updated its mid-size SUV, the Seltos for 2022; Gets 6 airbags and rear wheel disc brakes as standard; Prices hiked by up to Rs 30,000.
Kia’s best-selling model in the Indian market, the Seltos has just received a mid-life update. In an attempt to make the SUV safe and worthwhile for its customers, the Korean brand has made 6 airbags and rear disc brakes as a standard fitment on all the new models.
An earlier update had brought 4 airbags as standard for the Seltos with 6 airbags reserved only for the top-end variants. But with competition picking up pace quickly and the introduction of two new entrants to the segment, the company has decided to up the ante and offer 6 airbags and rear-wheel disc brakes as standard fitment across all variants. In addition, this update also helps the brand comply with the government's upcoming safety regulation to make 6 airbags mandatory from October 2022.
Other standard safety features on board the SUV include a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Management and Brake Assist. While front parking sensors and a 360-degree parking camera is currently being offered only in the top end trims.
The enhanced features come at an added cost. As a result, the KIA Seltos now costs Rs. 30,000 more than the old model. The range now starts from Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the HTE variant. The HTE, HTK, HTK+ and HTX trims get a straight Rs 30,000 price hike, while the top trims get a price increase ranging from Rs 4000 to Rs 20,000.
The Kia Seltos rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Apart from this update, in 2023 India will witness the introduction of Kia Seltos Facelift which has globally been revealed.
