Hyundai Motors India’s second largest automaker, has just given its popular Venue subcompact SUV a mild update. It has revised its feature list and has also added a new diesel powertrain to the model lineup. We take a closer look at what all are the key changes.
On the exterior, the 2023 Venue gets no changes as the subcompact SUV had recently got a facelift last year. It continues with the new revised front grille finished in chrome which is flanked by a split headlight setup while the rear provides redesigned tail lights.
Hyundai Motor India has also shuffled the equipment list across the board. The 6 trim levels stay the same, but the 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are now only available on the SX(O) top end variant. The Venue S(O) now gets side airbags while curtain airbags are offered only on the SX(O) petrol trims. The diesel models get curtain airbags from the SX trim level and up. However, the SX diesel has lost its rear seat armrest and recliner.
The biggest change to the 2023 Hyundai Venue is the older 1.5-litre diesel being replaced by another 1.5-litre motor that is currently used by the Creta and Alcazar. This is because the older unit does not meet the upcoming RDE Emission standards coming into effect from April 2023.
The new 1.5-litre diesel engine also makes more power and torque, 115 bhp with 250 Nm of peak torque compared to 100 bhp with 240 Nm of max torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be the only transmission option. The Venue also becomes the first Hyundai to get an integrated start generator with start-stop functionality, aiding fuel efficiency.
Prices for the 2023 Hyundai Venue starts from Rs 7.68 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base E variant and goes all the way up to Rs 13.11 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end SX(O) DT trim.
The Venue competes with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, and the Renault Kiger in its segment.
