December is going to be an action-packed month for auto enthusiasts as several exciting cars are set to be unveiled and hit showrooms. Skoda will reveal the complete price list of the upcoming Kylaq subcompact SUV on 2nd December, while the Honda Amaze will witness a generational shift with its official price announcement on 4th December. The ninth generation of the Toyota Camry, with comprehensive upgrades, will arrive in India on 11th December. The Kia Syros will be a new sub-4-meter SUV offering from the South Korean automaker, which will make its global debut on 19th December. Let’s take a close look at what to expect from each of these upcoming models.
The 2024 Honda Amaze has started reaching dealerships ahead of its official market launch. The compact sedan shares lots of design elements and features with the City and Elevate. Its larger grille with a honeycomb pattern, dual LED headlamps, and DRL signatures look similar to the Elevate. The front bumper has also been revised, and the LED projector fog lamps are likely to be reserved for the higher variants. Some of its other design highlights include newly-designed alloys, City-like taillamps, rear bumper, and boot lid design.
The dashboard design, steering, and new free-standing touchscreen infotainment system have also been borrowed from the Elevate. The new Honda Amaze gets a semi-digital instrument cluster. It also gets the Honda Sensing ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite along with features such as auto climate control, a rear seat armrest, and more. Mechanically, the new Amaze will remain unchanged. It will continue to come with the 90bhp, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine with the 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes.
The Skoda Kylaq subcompact SUV will be the smallest SUV offering from the Czech automaker in India. The carmaker has revealed that the entry-level variant of this SUV costs Rs 7,89,000, while prices of the remaining variants will be announced on 2nd December 2024. Featuring Skoda’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language, the SUV shares a resemblance with the Kushaq midsize SUV. However, it gets a slightly slimmer front grille than the Kushaq with lots of cladding on the bumpers.
Compared to the Kushaq, the Kylaq has an 85mm shorter wheelbase, and its overall length is 230mm shorter. The top-end variants get 17-inch alloy wheels, while the base trim comes with 16-inch steel wheels. The interior also looks similar to the Kushaq. Skoda’s new compact SUV is being offered with a single 1.0L TSI turbo petrol engine and two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The company claims that the Skoda Kylaq accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 10.5 seconds.
The Kia Syros is a sub-4-meter SUV that will make its world debut in India on 19th December. Its prices are expected to be announced in January at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, and deliveries might begin by the end of January or early February. While its official specifications are yet to be revealed, the Kia Syros is expected to come with multiple engine options, including a 1.0L turbo petrol (120bhp/172Nm), a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, and a 1.5L diesel (115bhp/250Nm).
The official teasers and spy images confirm that the Syros will have a boxy stance with a flat roof, upright rear, and high ground clearance. Some of its design elements will be borrowed from the EV9 electric SUV. Aiming to give it an edge over its rivals, Kia might equip it with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and a panoramic sunroof. Features such as leatherette upholstery, wireless charging, powered and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, hill hold assist, and parking sensors will also be on offer. Reports suggest that the Syros will have more cabin space than the Sonet.
The new-generation Toyota Camry, which made its global debut in late 2024, is now set to hit Indian roads on 11th December 2024. Significant changes have been made to its exterior. The executive sedan carries Toyota’s new design language and features sleeker LED headlamps with new C-shaped LED DRLs, a new ‘hammerhead’-shaped front with a large grille, a lowered roofline, and newly-designed C-shaped taillights. In India, it could be offered with 19-inch alloy wheels. The new Camry model lineup receives two new color schemes – Heavy Metal and Ocean Gem. Buyers will have multiple interior color themes, trims, and upholstery options.
The center stage is taken by a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch driver display. The new Toyota Camry also has dual-zone climate control, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated/heated seats with powered and memory functions, a wireless phone charger, wireless smartphone connectivity, an ADAS suite, and many more goodies.
Under the hood, the new Camry features an updated 2.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine benefited by Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system, which consists of two electric motors, a new battery, and updated components. This setup delivers a maximum power of 232PS with AWD and 225PS with FWD drivetrain systems, respectively.
