Maruti Suzuki domestic sales increased by just 0.5 percent Hyundai and Tata sales declined in April 2025 MG posts a massive 23 percent YoY sales growth in April 2025
Automakers in India has started releasing sales data for the month of April 2025. Last month was good for some brands; however, few, including Tata Motors reported negative sales growth. In this article, we talk about brand-wise sales numbers for the month of April 2025
Maruti Suzuki has reported a year-on-year sales growth of 6.96 percent in the month of April 2025. The company sold a total of 1,79,791 units in April 2025 as against 1,68,089 units in the same month last year. Exports helped the brand to post positive sales, as Total domestic car sales were increased by just 0.5 per cent.
In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,38,704 units. Adding to it, Maruti sales to other OEMs (Toyota India) stands at 9,827 units, which is again a YoY increase of 79.9 percent.
The homegrown SUV maker, Mahindra has yet again become India’s second largest carmaker in the month of April 2025. The company has registered an impressive 28 percent year-on-year sales growth. Mahindra sold a total of 52,330 units in April 2025 as against 41,008 units in the same month last year.
Hyundai India has achieved a key milestone, crossing domestic sales of 9 million units since inception. Hyundai Motor India Limited recorded total monthly sales of 60,774 units in April 2025, comprising domestic sales of 44,374 units and export sales of 16,400 units. The company has reported a YoY sales decline of 4.6 percent in the month of April 2025.
Tata Motors has reported a significant decline in its sales across segments in April 2025. The company sold a total of 27,221 commercial vehicle last month, reporting a YoY sales decline of 8 percent. In the same month last year, Tata sold a total of 29,538 commercial vehicles. The company’s total sales including commercial and domestic PV stands at 72,753 units last month, reporting YoY sales decline of 6.1 percent.
Passenger vehicle sales of the Tata Motors dropped 5 percent year-on-year to 45,532 units. Surprisingly, the brand’s EV business witnessed a massive YoY sales decline of 16 percent to 5,318 units.
Kia India has reported a massive year-on-year sales growth of 18.3 percent in the month of April 2025. The company’s total domestic passenger vehicle sales stand at 23,623 units in the month of April 2025 as against 19,968 units in the April 2024. Products including Syros, Carens, Sonet and Seltos are receiving positive response from car buyers. Adding to it, Kia will also launch the Clavis 7-seater premium MPV on May 8, 2025.
JSW MG Motor India sold a total of 5829 vehicles in the month of April 2025 as against 4725 units in the same month last year. The company has reported a massive YoY sales growth of 23 per cent. The Windsor EV has been receiving an overwhelming response from buyers, as it has been the best-selling EV for seven consecutive months.
