Honda ZR-V to come with hybrid powertrain Launching on May 22, 2026
Honda is finally shutting towards an aggressive product strategy for the Indian market. The company has announced to launch 10 new models, including 7 SUVs in the country by the end of this decade. After the sold groundwork laid by the Elevate, the Japanese automaker is ready to introduce its second SUV offering to our shores: the Honda ZR-V. It will come as a premium SUV to bridge the gap between mass-market crossovers and luxury SUVs. Most importantly, the SUV will be fitted with Honda’s e:HEV (Strong Hybrid) technology.
Specifications |
Honda ZR-V |
| Engine | 2.0L Atkinson Cycle + e:HEV |
| Maximum Power | 181bhp |
| Torque | 315Nm |
| Transmission Type | eCVT |
| Drive Type | Front-Wheel Drive |
The SUV is packed with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired with Honda’s dual-motor hybrid system. Unlike mild hybrids, this hybrid system allows the car to run on pure electric mode in city traffic.
The hybrid powertrain offers a combined power and torque output of 181bhp and 315Nm, respectively. The ZR-V is expected to deliver around 22-25kmpl of mileage, which is significantly higher than most of its rivals.
The ZR-V is built on the same platform as the latest-gen Civic sedan. Carrying an SUV profile, the SUV is claimed to offer driving dynamics of a sedan. Some of the design highlights include prominent honeycomb grille, a coupe-like roofline and sleeker LED headlamps.
The cabin also highlights Honda’s “Man Maximum Machine Minimum” philosophy, featuring a minimalist dashboard layout with soft-touch materials. It gets a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. It will come with Honda Sensing (LEVEL 2 ADAS) as standard with features like collision mitigation braking, lane assist, and adaptive cruise control.
Honda has officially announced that the new Honda ZR-V hybrid will be launched in the country on May 22, 2026. Deliveries for the SUV are expected to commence by June or July 2026.
The ZR-V is not an entry-level SUV, and it is aimed squarely at the higher-variants Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, VW Tayron and others in the segment. It will come as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) model and is expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakh - 45 lakh, ex-showroom.
