Kia India Launch Syros EV, Sorento & Carnival Hybrids - Full Plan Revealed

Kia plans 10 models, including EVs and hybrids. Syros EV coming soon, Sorent and Carnival hybrids by 2027.

At the 2026 Kia CEO Investor Day event, the carmaker has revealed its plan to expand its Indian product portfolio to 10 models, including right electrified vehicles (xEVs). The upcoming lineup will include three new green mobility models, namely, the Kia Syros EV, Kia Sorento HEV and Kia Carnival HEV, slated to launch by 2030. Additionally, Kia aims to expand its dealership network to 800 locations across India.

Launch Timelines & Competition

While the company remained tight-lipped about specific product details and exact launch timelines, the Kia Syros EV is expected to reach showrooms in the coming months. The new Kia Sorento hybrid and Carnival hybrid are likely to arrive in 2027.

Kia Syros EV Dual charging port

The Kia Syros EV will be the brand’s first electric mass-market offering in India. With an estimated price range of Rs 14 lakh – Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), it’s expected with multiple EVs including Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV and Hyundai Creta Electric.

The Kia Sorento will be positioned as a premium three-row SUV, taking on rivals like the Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar. It will also compete with upcoming models such as the 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara, 7-seater Toyota Hyryder, 7-seater Renault Duster and Nissan’s 7-seater Duster.

The Kia Carnival caters a niche segment, and doesn’t have a direct rival in India. However, it competes indirectly based on its prices, size and target market. The hybrid version of the MPV will have the Toyota Innova Hycross as its closest alternative for family buyers.

Kia’s Hybrid Powertrain For India

If reports are to be believed, Kia India might electrify its 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine by paring it with an electric motor and a small battery pack. This setup could be offered with an eCVT or a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Kia’s new hybrid powertrain is expected to deliver high on fuel efficiency, making it suitable for the market requirement. The Kia Sorento and Carnival hybrid are already on sale in global market with more powerful hybrid powertrains.
