Mahindra & Mahindra has planned several new EVs for India, including born-electric and ICE-converted EV models. This year, the home-grown automaker has already introduced two born-electric SUVs – the BE 6 and the XEV 9e.
These EVs will soon be followed by the XUV 3XO EV (ICE-converted EV) and the skateboard platform-based XEV 7e. The upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, which is currently in its testing phase, will hit showrooms in the coming months. Here’s a brief overview of this subcompact electric SUV.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is likely to receive minor cosmetic changes, differentiating it from its ICE version. It might feature an EV-specific front grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, different badging and new aero-dynamic alloy wheels. No changes will be made to its dimensions. Similar to its ICE counterpart, the XUV 3XO EV will measure 3,990mm in length, 1,821mm in width and 1,647mm in height.
Expect some EV-specific changes inside the cabin as well.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV will share most of its features with the ICE-powered version including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system, leatherette on dashboard and door trims, leatherette upholstery, front parking sensors, 65W USB-C fast charging, electronic parking brake with auto hold, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitor, Level 2 ADAS and more.
Reports suggest that the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV will be offered with a small 35kWh battery pack. However, there are no details on its electric motor, range and power figures.
In the company’s product lineup, the XUV 3XO EV will sit below the XUV400 EV and will be priced nearly Rs 2 lakh lower than the latter. The Mahindra XUV 400 EV is currently available within the price range of Rs 15.49 lakh - Rs 19.39 lakh. Whereas its arch-rival, the Tata Punch EV costs between Rs 9.99 lakh – Rs 14.44 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
