Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the Fronx facelift with a hybrid engine by the end of 2025. This will be the brand’s first vehicle featuring its own hybrid technology, developed in India, bringing significant improvements in fuel efficiency and affordability. The Fronx Hybrid has already been spotted testing with a "Hybrid" badge, signalling an exciting new chapter for the automaker.
The current Maruti Fronx already delivers respectable fuel efficiency in its petrol and CNG variants. The petrol automatic Fronx offers a mileage of 22.89 kmpl, while the manual petrol version gives 21.79 kmpl. The CNG variant stands out with an impressive 28.51 km/kg.
However, the upcoming Maruti Fronx Hybrid promises a significant leap in fuel efficiency. Thanks to the new hybrid powertrain, the Fronx Hybrid is expected to achieve a mileage of 30 kmpl or more. Under ideal driving conditions, this figure could even touch 35 kmpl. The hybrid system uses a 1.2-litre Z-series engine paired with an electric motor, where the engine acts as a generator to recharge the battery and the electric motor drives the wheels, resulting in improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
This boost in mileage makes the Fronx Hybrid an excellent choice for those looking to save on fuel costs while reducing their carbon footprint.
Maruti Suzuki’s ambition doesn’t stop with the Fronx Hybrid. The company plans to roll out hybrid versions of its best-selling models like the Brezza, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire. This strategic move aims to make hybrid technology more accessible to the masses while keeping the cost affordable. Furthermore, Maruti is also set to launch its first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, in March 2025, expanding its range of eco-friendly vehicles.
While the Fronx Hybrid promises better mileage, its price tag is expected to be higher than the standard petrol variant. The hybrid version is likely to cost an additional Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh over the regular model. For context, the current Fronx ranges between Rs 7.51 lakh and Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom).
Despite the price hike, the Fronx Hybrid is expected to offer great value, combining superior fuel efficiency with a more eco-conscious driving experience. This makes it an attractive option for those seeking long-term savings on fuel costs and looking to contribute to a greener environment in 2025.
