The much-anticipated MG Windsor PRO will finally launch in the Indian market today. It will be the long-range version of the electric car, which offers the practicality of an MPV and ruggedness of an SUV. The long-range Windsor EV will come with a bigger battery pack, more safety features and better-equipped interior.
The teaser reveals that the new MG Windsor PRO appears largely identical to the existing model. However, the electric Windsor PRO rides on a newly designed larger 18-inch alloy wheels. In terms of design, the electric car gets flush-type door handles, closed-off front fascia with round-shaped headlamp setup, connected LED bars, illuminated MG Logo, and connected LED tail-lights.
The MG Windsor EV PRO will remain largely identical to the existing model, except for the few changes. It comes with a new light-coloured black and beige interior instead of the all-black interior on the standard version. Another big update is the addition of LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, auto high beam and others.
JSW MG Motor India has confirmed that the MG Windsor Pro will be equipped with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) technology. The V2L allows the driver to power other devices using the car’s power, while the V2V can be used to charge the compatible vehicles. In terms of features, the electric vehicle gets a floating touchscreen infotainment unit, two-spoke and flat-bottom steering wheel, a digital instrument console, a fixed glass roof, automatic climate control and others.
The current model is equipped with a 38 kWh battery pack with an electric motor rated at 134bhp and 200Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer a certified range of 332km on a single charge.
The Windsor PRO is likely to be offered with the same electric motor as the standard model; however, it will have a bigger battery pack. The electric car is likely to be packed with a 52.9 kWh battery pack, which is bigger than the ZS EV. This battery pack is likely to offer a claimed range of around 500 km on a single charge.
The new MG Windsor PRO EV will be equipped with high-end features and bigger battery pack, which will surely increase its price tag. The electric Windsor PRO is expected to be priced around Rs 16 lakh and Rs 20 lakh.
