Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown automaker is preparing upgraded versions of its existing SUV line-up including the XUV700, Thar 3-door and Scorpio-N. A new Mahindra SUV has been caught testing on the Indian roads. This model was claimed to be the next-gen Bolero; however, Autocar India reports that the spotted model is the heavily updated Mahindra Bolero Neo.
The report further claims that the Mahindra Bolero Neo facelift will be unveiled alongside a new platform concept on August 15, 2025. The new platform is rumoured to be the brand’s new Flexible architecture, which will underpin the next-gen Bolero and Bolero EV. This architecture will be compatible with different body types and engine options including petrol, diesel, hybrid and all-electric.
The new Mahindra Bolero Neo facelift will continue to be based on the same ladder-frame chassis. The big news is that the new model comes with all-new top hat with inspiration from the Mahindra Scorpio-N. In fact, spy images reveal that the body panels will be all-new and looks entirely different from the existing Bolero Neo.
The rear quarter area of the SUV has a Land-Rover Defender-like profile. The side profile has new doors with flush-type door handles, flared wheel arches and massive body cladding in the lower part. The SUV features a larger twin 5-spoke alloy wheels.
The front fascia also saw massive changes, as it gets Scorpio-N like front grille and circular-shaped headlamps. The rear gets a flat tailgate that houses a spare wheel mount. The SUV is reportedly to receive six airbags and premium features such as a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, automatic climate control and others.
The Bolero Neo is powered by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo diesel engine that produces 100hp and 260Nm of torque, and is paired to a manual gearbox. We expect the new SUV could get the more powerful 1.5L diesel engine from the XUV 3XO. Moreover, a petrol derivative could also be introduced.
