Hyundai has recently launched the new-gen Venue sub-4 meter compact SUV in the country. Our sources reveal that the next big Hyundai launch will take place by the end of 2026, which is most likely to be the next-gen Hyundai Creta. The company will launch the facelifted versions of the Exter and Verna sedan in the first half of 2026.
It is reported that the next-gen Creta will launch in the first quarter of 2027. However, we believe that the company could launch the SUV at the end of 2026, around the festive season.
It is no secret that Kia will launch the second-gen Seltos SUV in December 2025. The SUV will initially come with existing powertrain options; however, its hybrid version is expected to launch sometime in 2027. The big news is that the next-gen Hyundai Creta will receive the new hybrid engine before the Seltos. Hyundai is aiming to maximise its first-mover advantage within the Korean duo.
The Korean brand is reportedly developing an all-new strong hybrid engine based on the 1.5L, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Both hybrid SUVs will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Victoris and the Toyota Hyryder, which uses the 1.5L, 3-cylinder petrol engine.
The new Hyundai Creta will be based on the modified version of the existing platform. The outgoing models scored 3 star safety rating from Global NCAP, and their platforms were found unstable.
Internally codenamed SX3, the new-gen Hyundai Creta is most likely to grow in size and will come with all-new design and interior along with multiple powertrain options. The SUV will initially come with 3 engine choices, including a 115hp, 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol, a 160hp, 1.5L turbo petrol and a 116hp, 1.5L diesel. This wide range of choices ensures that buyers can select a Creta variant that fits their driving needs and budget.
Hyundai will also give a mid-life update to the Creta Electric, which is expected to launch in 2027. The SUV is expected to receive cosmetic design changes and improved tech features. Hyundai could use bigger or improved batteries to achieve higher range.
