Next-gen Hyundai Creta Looks Big in Latest Spy Images

2027 Hyundai Creta to be based on new K3 platform To ride on a longer wheelbase New Creta to measure around 4.5 meters in length

The undisputed king of the midsize SUV segment, the Hyundai Creta is preparing for a massive generational leap. Fresh spy images surfaced on AutoEvolution showing the fully covered third-generation Creta undergoing real-world road testing. Despite heavily camouflaged, the latest images confirm a major shift in Hyundai’s design language for its SUVs. Ditching the softer and rounded covers, the new Creta is substantially larger, more muscular, and carries a boxy silhouette.

Next-gen Hyundai Creta Exterior: Boxy and Bigger Footprint

The latest spy images reveals the vehicle’s expanded footprint and commanding road presence. Based on Hyundai’s new design philosophy, the next-gen Creta carries a taller, more traditional SUV stance. The test mule has a distinctly flat bonnet line paired with a vertically stacked, bigger front grille and split-LED pixel headlight signatures.

While the previous test mules were seen riding on 18-inch wheels, the latest flagship prototypes have been caught testing with massive 19-inch alloy wheels with geometric pattern. It has a shorter overhang, but the midsection appears noticeably elongated. This suggests that the SUV rides on a significantly longer wheelbase aimed at maximising second-row legroom.

Adopting New K3 Platform

The existing model is based on the K2 architecture, but the next-gen Creta will be designed and developed on the advanced K3 platform. Moving to the new architecture allows the Creta’s overall length to grow significantly from the current 4.3 meters to nearly 4.5 meters. The platform will also bring massive upgrades to structural rigidity, improved crash safety ratings, lower NVH levels and readiness for electrification.

More Uparket Interiors

The cabin spy shots reveal that Hyundai is pushing the Creta further upmarket. It gets a larger freestanding touchscreen infotainment unit, which runs on Hyundai’s latest Pleos Connect system. This system will bring in fresh interface and more connected features. It will be compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an AI assistant called Gleo, over-the-air updates, and others.

The SUV also gets a dedicated “Zero-Gravity” seat button on the front passenger side that reclines the seat fully and extends a comfortable leg ottoman for executive-class travel. The new Creta will continue to offer ventilated front seats, powered driver and co-driver seat, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS tech, and others.

Engine Options

At launch, the next-gen Creta will carry forward the 115hp, 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 116hp, 1.5L turbo diesel and a 160hp, 1.5L turbo petrol motor. The big update is that Hyundai is developing a strong-hybrid powertrain to directly take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Victoris and Toyota Hyryder hybrid.
